Articles in Portuguese, English and Spanish published in the last ten years (2010 to 2020) were analyzed. Results: The reviewed studies showed that psychoeducation in nursing is a valuable resource in intervention with families, in addition to providing tools for family members of patients with severe mental disorders in relation to their loved ones' illness. Conclusion: With Psychoeducation, it is possible to implement promotion, prevention and nursing care strategies, not only for the individual, but also for the family, in order to provide comprehensive care.
