Results: the review corpus comprised 33 articles, categorized into two aspects: knowledge about risk factors, prevention and identification of stroke; and the search for early care in the urgency and emergency service. Conclusion: the elderly are generally unaware of the disease and the need to seek care early, which highlights the importance of health promotion actions and guidelines related to stroke, whether through the media or people who make up the support network.
