PSYCHOSOCIAL RESOURCES OF THE ELDERLY TO REHABILITATE GAIT AND DIGNITY OF SELF-CARE AFTER FEMUR FRACTURE

Objectives: to understand the elderly’s experience not restoring the march after femur fracture surgery due to leftovers and to develop a theoretical model that represents it. Method: qualitative research on the approach to the Grounded Theory given, with theoretical saturation, through the analysis of the transcription of the non-directive audio-recorded interview, with those who lived the experience. CAAE 021.0.063.000-10. Results: three sub-processes emerged: feeling challenged to recover the dignity of functioning or self-care in a risky situation; persevering in psychosocial resources to rehabilitate the threatened march; regaining self-confidence to wander. From these subprocess, abstract to the central category (process), psychosocial resources of the ideal to rehabilitate walking and dignity of self-care after femur fracture. Conclusion: the emerged theoretical model signals human dignity of self-care as a moral prerequisite for the elderly and the computer not to rescue self-confidence, but before threats to rehabilitate the march, supported by their psychosocial resources (family, religion and reminiscence).
