Objective: To report the experience of nursing students in developing activities on food in the school environment with elementary school students. Method: Descriptive study, in the format of an experience report, conducted in March 2020 at the Nursing Undergraduate Program of a public university in Belém, Pará, Brazil. It was based on the Problematization Methodology with the Maguerez Arc. The setting was a public state school, and the target audience consisted of adolescents. Results: A reality was explored, and its characteristics guided the active search and construction of knowledge. The observation of the environment and the relationship between participants led to defining school food as a key aspect of the problematization, in which the target audience shared opinions and experiences. Conclusion: The interaction with the community sparked the students' interest in the subject. Thus, anchored in problematization, the teaching-learning process strengthened the formation of nurses from an interdisciplinary perspective.
