Aged, Falls, Self-careAbstract
Population aging has intensified over the past decades and poses increasing challenges to health systems, especially due to the rise in chronic diseases, functional dependence, and the greater vulnerability of older adults to adverse events such as falls. Thus, this scoping review protocol aims to map the available scientific evidence on fall risk among older adults associated with self-care, identifying the main preventive interventions, the ducational and technologic astrategies applied, and their implications for promoting functional independence and quality of life. The review will follow the methodological guidelines of the Joanna Briggs
Institute (JBI) and will be conducted according to the PCC framework (Population, Concept, and Context), considering: P — older adults; C — self-care and preventive interventions; C — health promotion and fall prevention contexts. There will be no language or publication period restrictions. The search will be conducted in international databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, CINAHL, and LILACS) and in gray literature sources (Google Scholar, OpenGrey, and ProQuest Dissertations & Theses
Global). The screening and selection process will be carried out by two independent reviewers using Rayyan software, with a third reviewer resolving any disagreements. Extracted data will be organized and analyzed descriptively and presented in summary tables, following the PRISMA-ScR recommendations. The findings of this review are expected to provide a comprehensive overview of self-care practices for fall prevention, helping to identify knowledge gaps and support public policies and intersectoral actions
aimed at promoting safe and healthy aging.
