Abstract

Objective: To analyze the role of nursing and nutrition in the care of patients with AIP and propose an integrated protocol to support clinical practice. Method: Narrative review in the PubMed, SciELO, LILACS, Cochrane, and Web of Science databases (2019–2024), using MeSH/DeCS descriptors and Boolean operators. Articles in Portuguese, English, and Spanish on interdisciplinary care, nursing, and nutrition in API were included. Results: Nursing interventions based on NANDA, NIC, and NOC promote safety and clinical organization, while nutrition contributes to metabolic balance and healing. The integrated protocol proposes practical steps for joint action, focusing on health education and therapeutic adherence. Conclusion: The
integration of nursing and nutrition in the management of PAI improves clinical outcomes, prevents complications, and reduces amputations, strengthening interdisciplinary practice and the efficiency of health services.
